Just how fucked up have politics in America become?
From the desk of, "just when you thought you'd seen it all"...
The latest eye-opener from the Bush administration: censoring who can represent our country at international meetings about cell phones. Time recently reported the following mischief:
Those bumped included big-wigs from Nokia and Qualcomm, who, um, you might think would know a thing or two about telecommunications. Bush administration mouthpiece Terry Duffy had this to say in response: "We wanted people who would represent the Administration positively, and--call us nutty--it seemed like those who wanted to kick this Administration out of town last November would have some difficulty doing that."
Doesn't that smug comment make you wanna just stomp on his face? The booted probably feel the same way. After all, one of them had the following misdemeanor on his/her resume: a donation of $250 to the Kerry campaign.
It's amazing--although not surprising--that this administration has stooped to this level. But, it's also sickening that a majority of the country isn't entirely fed up with this kind of discriminative behavior carried out by such ridiculous micromanaging. I guess Bush has nearly four more years to micromanage enough of the general public to the point where he will have pissed everyone off and rattled enough cages.

The Inter-American Telecommunication Commission [ed. note: try saying that three times fast!] meets three times a year in various cities across the Americas to discuss such dry but important issues as telecommunications standards and spectrum regulations. But for this week's meeting in Guatemala City, politics has barged onto the agenda. At least four of the two dozen or so U.S. delegates selected for the meeting, sources tell TIME, have been bumped by the White House because they supported John Kerry's 2004 campaign.
